Question by Lady A: Does anyone know where I would be able to find a place that will help with the cost of reconstructive surgery?
My aunt is a breast cancer survivor and had to have a masectomy but she does not have insurance to pay for the cost of the reconstructive surgery. She is also out of work right now and has no home she has been living with family members for the last year with her 10 yr. old daughter and it has been rough for them. I am not in a financial position to fund the procedure for her and her self esteem and confidence are taking a huge slamming right now and I just want her to know that she is a beautiful person with or without her breast but I know how hard a person can be on themselves. If there is anyone out there that can help I would appreciate it so much and it would mean the world to my aunt to have a part of her womanhood restored. Oh, I live in los angeles.

I would not jump into this until you have the assurance via blood tests, scans, and several 3 month follow-ups, that the cancer is gone and will not come back. I have a relative who jumped into reconstructive surgery, and she believed that the reconstructive surgery accelerated spreading of cancer that later recurred in that area and other areas shortly after the reconstructive surgery. She eventually died because the cancer came back and spread very fast.
