Embarrassing Bodies – laser treatment for rare skin condition

26 year old Kahn was fed up with the skin rash that had been plaguing his back for ten years — without successful diagnosis. Dr Christian was able to diagnose Atrophoderma which sees the formation of skin lesions on the skin which lead to scarring. He sent Kahn to see dermatologist Dr Lanagan, who administers laser treatment which was ultimately unsuccessful. As a last resort cosmetic camouflage expert Amanda Johnson visited Kahn and his partner to trial a hardy make up to cover the condition which worked incredibly well and saw Kahn return to Dr Christian to discuss the improvement the make up had made on his life. This new series explores the conditions and ailments that leave many of us a little red-faced and aims to de-stigmatise common complaints. Three doctors — Dawn Harper, Christian Jessen and Pixie McKenna — will be throwing open the doors of the clinic in a bid to tackle each condition head on, while attempting to take away the sting of shame.
