Getting Botox injections with Dr. Jonathan Hoenig. Please excuse the no make-up; I had just removed the topical anesthetic and had also just had a major hormonal break out (right before I went vegetarian!). This is Part 3 of 3. Part 1 is Radiesse For Cheek Augmenation; Part 2 is Restylane Under the Eyes. I decided to split the video up into 3 sections (3 different procedures). I apologize to those who made comments on the original video as they are now lost forever.
Question by lildee: What are the requirements for getting Botox injections for you face and does any one know the aproximate costs?
I’m thinking about getting Botox or laser treatments for the deep lines in my face but am a little nervous .I think the laser would be less on comfortable .Could anyone give me a clue about what the requirements are for both and if the cost would be worth it

Answer by Dean Michael Aesthetics MD The physician you see to have botox should have a comprehensive knowledge of facial anatomy and be experienced administering botox cosmetic. You can not receive botox if you have certain neurological conditions and/or are pregnant, may become pregnant or are nursing. When it comes to ‘deep’ lines in your face, botox cosmetic is very effective at reducing muscle movement primarily in the brow, forehead and around the eyes, and in doing so reduces wrinkles in these areas. Dermal fillers such as juvederm, restyland and radiesse are used to ‘fill in’ deeper areas /deeper wrinkles such as those seen in the nasolabial fold area. When it comes to lasers, intense pulsed light will help to clear away brown and red discolorations and laser skin resurfacing will reduce the presence of fine lines, but is less effective at getting rid of ‘deep’ wrinkles. It really depends on the areas of concern to you.
The botox website has a lot of answers to many questions about botox and will help you find a clinician in your area who is experienced in administering botox cosmetic.
Check out our video on world progress report to see answers to this and other questions about medical aesthetics/cosmetic dermatology. Typically botox cost is based on per unit. Our office charges $ 12/unit and the areas of the brow and forehead typically need 16-20 units and around the eyes about 12-18 units (total). A trustworthy practice usually will give free touch ups as well. Find a doctor who is conservative as well and is not going to ‘over treat’ your face with botox which can result in a very un-natural appearance. The art of botox is to give enough to allow for ‘some’ movement, just less than normal and as mentioned, in doing so, it results in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.
Happy Holidays and I have included some helpful links.
