Question by Seeker2008: EXTREMELY painful sores on inside of upper lip with Chicken Pox?
I’m an adult male, 28 years old. I work in an airport and came down with Chicken Pox around 4 to 5 days ago…that’s when the first few clear blisters started, at least. It was verified by a doctor Saturday, who prescribed me 10 days worth of Acyclovir. I have possibly around 500+ ‘dots’, lesions and/or “dew drop” bubbles all over my body…including scalp, head/face, lips, a couple inside of my mouth on my gums and I think one on the very back of my throat, arms, legs, stomach, back, etc.
My biggest complaint is what is on my upper lip. http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/6701/img1428p.jpg (Pardon the odd way the picture is…looks like a fish about to eat something, but that’s the only way to take it of that area). These 20-30+ little white round and/or long/rectangular sores on my upper lip hurt more than any of the other sores on my entire body.
I’ve looked up Chicken Pox symptoms, pictures, etc. Nobody seems to know about these. I didn’t have them quite as bad the other day, but partially as bad and they did hurt a lot. I showed them to the doctor…he seemed to consider them as part of Chicken Pox as a whole.
They HURT more than I could ever describe on here. It’s like a constant pulsing pain that runs down my body and gives me chills. I’ve tried to figure out what I could “numb” it with. I don’t have anything kanka/orajel related…I tried putting toothpaste on it to get the “Menthol” feeling. Didn’t work. I’ve tried a mouth rinse…didn’t work. I don’t have anything that I can think of to “numb” it with and don’t have a vehicle to get to the store until this afternoon. Suggestions? I can’t sleep with these hurting this bad.
…and I wasn’t very specific there. I’m talking about my specific lip sores only that are causing all of this.
They look similar to a few of the apparent Chicken Pox that I have on my tongue…it looks as though they turn a different color/shape/form when actually in the more sensitive areas of the mouth, as opposed to the outside of the body on the skin in general.
But any suggestion on how to stop the pain until these pop/go away? My other sores seem to “pop” on their own…it’s irritating the crap out of me. I’m laying in bed and they just randomly “pop” little liquid in various places on my face and I have to wipe it every couple of minutes.

You must be in a lot of pain. One odd thing about chicken pox is that when you get it as an adult the symptoms are much worse than when you get it as a child. One thing you can do is ask your doctor for a prescription for Valtrex which I believe works much better than Acyclovir, and should help the sores heal more quickly. Other than that, about the only thing you can do is rest, and take anti-itch medications such as antihistamines. It will run its course.
