from knowlege of the physiocchemical properties of keratin and collagen discuss the following features physical appearance secondary protein structure and effects of elevated temperature.
my thought for keratin is that due the alpha helical structure it can be stretched and manipulated with the use of heat. does it break the disulfide bonds???

permanent waving can be done by breaking and reforming disulphide cross-links. Hair consists of alpha helix that make up keratin extensible. Heating can break disulphide bonds by reduction process. This process can extend hair filaments. then oxidizing process can make the hair curl.
