Question by : Can a person put too many creams/lotions on their face, causing acne?
I put on 3 lotions on day and night plus some eye cream and in the morning sunscreen. Is this too much? I have gotten some acne since starting this ritual but it’s not a lot and when I stopped using the creams it didn’t go away.

Yes especially if you’re young
You just need to cleanse, tone and moisturize
To clean use your preferred face wash
To tone use witch hazel toner
And to moisturize, use neutrogenas oil free moisturizer

Question by Jack D: Will my face acne stop when I start growing facial hair?
I am 16 at the moment, and I have mild Acne. I have just started to notice that I am growing facial hair, I already have pubic and armpit hair. My question is, will acne stop as soon as I grow facial hair?, because I am going to be shaving, and if I’m shaving over spots it’s going to be a killer. I have had this acne for over a 1 year and a half now.

Any help?

It’s actually not that bad at all. I notice that when I grow a beard my pores don’t clog up as much… so shaving isn’t an issue there. I’ve had mixed results with electric and blade razors…. Both seem to flare up my acne the day I shave, and by the next day everything is back to normal.

I’ve never like cut over a zit or anything like that unless it was early in the morning and I hadn’t noticed that it already had a huge head on it or anything.

I wouldn’t worry about it.

You can try getting a remington electric razor and using the softest setting on it… just be warned that the pre-shave and aftershave both have alcohol in them which will dry out your skin and may mess with any products you are using.

It does a decent job and I actually haven’t had any nicks or cuts in about a month… which is quite impressive since i also shave my neck and under my chin.

ok so i went to the dermatologist (sp?) today for the
first time. she gave me 2 creams one to put on in the
morning, and the other at night. and she also gave me
antibiotics. my acne isnt HORRIBLE its just basically
by my hair line and like one zit on my chin. mmostly black
heads. anyways she said this medicine and cream will
take a while to work, exactly how long should it take? like
a few weeks, or a few months? what? let me no! thanks! <3

until it starts going away…
i use cetaphil(sp?from target, for sensitive skin), and differin(sp?from my dermatologist)…. ive been using it for like, 1/2 a year, and my acne is pretty much gone…

I have very very bad acnes and I need to get rid of them.
I searched for skin care clinic but there’s a bunch of them. I have no idea which one to go.
Any recommendations?

Also any suggestions to make my skin better? :’(
I’ve tried Proactive but it didn’t work… My skin was horribly dry and red+swollen+painful…

Now I’m 21, thought this is the time my skin gets better from those adolescent skin problems, but getting worse in reality…

I go to the vancouver skin care centre. It is a really good place. I had horrible acne and a forehead rash and when we moved to vancouver I went there and now i am acne free! It got a lot better in about two months, but took a year to clear up completely. I say stp using proactive and those, and see a dermetologist. They will give you what you really need for your skin.

i used proactiv for mild acne…it actually worked and cleared up my face after 2 weeks or so. get the trial kit – its only 20 bucks shipped. But if it doesnt work make sure you cancel your service because they will bill you and send you another kit in a month.

I need an acne treatment that I can get at walmart or a drug store. I don’t need a facewash. Just “spot treatment” for acne that I can put right on the pimple. What have you used? What works best? Any skincare tips?

Aside from the obvious of eating healthy and avoiding junk food, consider taking vitamin B and baking soda scrubs. I also put a bit of salus spray on baking soda and it works remarkably well. Try it. I get the spray from ebay and it lasts forever if refrigerated.

I’ve been going to the dermatolgist because I have been breaking out and have tried many different antibiotics and none of them seem to work. My dermatologist said something about accutane.. I think that’s what it was. Has anyone ever used this? What is it?

I used it when I was younger and it worked really good. When I was on it you had to get blood work every month or so. I’m not sure if you have to do it now. The only bad thing I remember was that my face did get very dry and the edge of my lips got very dry and started to crack. But it was worth it. My skin is not perfect because my acne was really bad but it could have been much much worse.

i’m on month 4 of accutane and my face is incredibly smooth. i have no acne, just blotchy red spots caused by acne. my dermatologist says it’ll take up to a year for it to all go away but prom’s coming up and i need a solution fast. i heard honey works pretty well and i’ve been trying that for the past few days, but are there any other home remedies that will work fast? thanks.

Don,t use any soaps or facial wash to wash your face- wash your face in Ice cold water three times a day- that,s what i did- before going to bed in the night- fill the sink with cold water and some Ice cubes in the water to melt in with overnight- then next morning when the water ahs gotten Ice cold overnight wash your face with te cold water for a few minutes-wash again in the afternoon or evening and just before you go to bed-thats how I got rid of the redness when my acne went.
