Question by JKD: What are the chances of herpes spreading when not having an outbreak?
Having it be months from having an outbreak, with everything crystal clear, feeling healthy, to have sex without a condom, I have a friend who has herpes and she said she’s been sleeping with someone without a condom for 8 months, and he has yet to be infected. I feel like they make it a much bigger deal then it is, when your not having an outbreak.

Answer by Luey Everybody makes herpes out to be a much bigger problem than it really is; probably because they know nothing about it and are ignorant! I’ve been told that it is fine to have unprotected sex if you are not having an outbreak. For people that have herpes and are simply asymptomatic, meaning they dont have any symptoms and never have; it is risky for them to have unprotected sex because you never know when they are shedding (which is when the virus is contagious). Therefore, since you haven’t had an outbreak the herpes is laying dormant right now and the chances of you spreading it are unlikely. However, you should let your partner know that you have herpes before having sex, just so he/she knows the risk. Good luck! Hope this helps!
